Deep in the cool, mist-laden cloud forests of eastern Nepal—where bamboo thickets, oak woodlands, and ancient rhododendrons blanket rolling hillsides, lives one of the Himalayas’ most enchanting and elusive mammals: the Red Panda. This thoughtfully designed wildlife expedition takes travelers far beyond Nepal’s mainstream routes into a region where nature, conservation, and local communities are deeply intertwined.
Your journey begins with a scenic flight to the eastern lowlands, where panoramic views of the Himalayas greet you, including Mount Everest and several of the world’s highest peaks on clear days. From Bhadrapur, a gradual ascent through the lush tea estates of Ilam, winding hillside roads, and traditional hill villages introduces you to the tranquil rural landscapes and daily life of eastern Nepal. Along the way, you will encounter forests rich in Himalayan flora and birdlife, while learning about local agriculture, tea cultivation, and the vital role of community-led conservation initiatives.
Arriving at the Dobato, time slows. Guests spend their days immersed in cloud forest walks, wildlife tracking, and high-altitude birdwatching, guided by Local Forest Guardians and trackers with years of experience protecting these fragile ecosystems. Extended stays in prime wildlife areas allow for patient observation, opportunities to understand animal behavior, and the chance to spot rare Himalayan birds like Satyr Tragopan, Blood Pheasant, Yellow-vented Warbler etc.
Accommodation in community-run homestays and teahouses ensures that your visit directly supports local livelihoods, wildlife conservation, and sustainable tourism—creating an authentic connection between travelers, nature, and people.
Ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, birdwatchers, photographers, and conservation-minded travelers, this expedition rewards curiosity, patience, and a passion for discovering Nepal’s hidden natural treasures while actively contributing to ethical, low-impact wildlife tourism.
